A message to our sponsors

What if...

...there was a world where girls and young women could grow physically, academically, socially and emotionally, expanding their friendships and boundaries all the while?

...there was a world where all that mattered was what was inside, where queen bees and wannabes had no place, where diversity ruled and cliques were unknown?

... there was a world in which no girl stood alone, where success was measured by the strength of community, and there was no failure, only opportunities to push past limits?

... there was a world where the simple love of a game made you a welcomed member of a special family, a family that accepted you no matter where you came from, and stayed yours when you moved on?

That world is here!

The sport of women’s ice hockey offers a unique environment in which girls experience the values of hard work, sportsmanship, team play, and friendship, while participating in an activity that long has excluded females. By putting on skates and picking up a stick, a girl breaks a barrier. As she grows and develops, she encounters and conquers demanding athletic, intellectual and communication challenges that mold her as a strong, independent young woman, a rising role model, and a future leader. As a sport, ice hockey demands respect for oneself, one’s opponent, and the game, even as it rewards selflessness and dedication to the common cause. As a student-athlete, the player exudes confidence, self-awareness, and a commitment to excellence in all endeavors. And as a member of an ice hockey family, she is valued for herself, for her love of the game, and her dedication to her teammates.

The Edge Foundation was formed to support and sustain the development of women’s ice hockey in the National Capital area, and to create an environment of high academic standards and athletic preparedness for all girls who have a love for the sport. As a key part of its mission, The Edge Foundation promotes expectations for healthy behavior through principles of leadership and teamwork, and strives to make the tangible benefits of participation in the sport available to all girls who aspire. Sponsor support is the driving force behind the Foundation, which depends entirely on the generosity and dedication of people like you to meet its resource needs.

General Info

Fundraising is our continuous activity. Our program maintains a focus to inform, organize and help those interested in girls hockey. Funds are solicited from the general public, the community, and from local and national corporations that have an interest in athletics, ice hockey, or female athletes in general.

Fundraising is performed, on a volunteer basis, by the activists of The Edge Foundation, as well as by parents of female ice hockey players living within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Our efforts to raise funds are organized through a committee structure and carefully documented. Our primary reach is focused to individuals and corporations located in the Mid-Atlantic region. Secondarily, the Edge expands its reach to include the entire United States where girls' hockey continues to grow and prosper.

Girls: Let's Play Hockey
As a result of our wonderful volunteer parents and players, we enjoyed a hugely successful event in Prince William.
